On 1, June, 2004 the requirements of International Code for Security of Ships and of Port Facility came into force.

This new requirements form the International structure, by means of which ships and port facilities can cooperate with the purpose of detection and prevent of the facts, menacing to security in the sector of Maritime Transport.

According to these requirements, in Batumi Sea Port Limited corresponding post of the officer of Security of port - Security Officer, responsible for observance of all operating rules and position in port regime territory, coordinating cooperation of corresponding services on a safety mooring in Batumi Sea Port Limited and protection of objects in its territory, is entered.
This post simultaneously is a connecting point between port administration and governmental structures, responsible for security.
Information, concerning appointed Security Officer is directed to International Maritime Organization - IMO with full identification data and ways of contact with them for inclusion in the International Guide of Ports.
According to requirements of International Convention, the Security Officer of Port is round-the-clock readiness for reception of the required notification - Vessel-berth, by inquiries of companies and vessels, directed to Batumi Sea Port Limited, immediately giving the necessary information of port security levels, gives recommendations regarding security.
Every vessel, which is under requirement of International Code, on arrival in Port of Batumi is a subject to Security Officer for presence on the vessel the valid International Ship Security Certificate, also performance of security requirements according with Code.
In June, 2004 Batumi Sea Port Limited received the Certificate of Conformity to requirements of the International Code for Security of Ships and Port Facilities.
