The Batumi Sea Port Ltd (hereinafter referred to as BSP) has received a certificate of compliance with the environmental management system according to the requirements of the international


The Batumi Sea Port Ltd (hereinafter referred to as BSP) has received a certificate of compliance with the environmental management system according to the requirements of the international standard EcoPorts.

The BSP was certified with the assistance of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and the ECO Sustainable Logistics Chain Foundation (ECOSLC) as part of the "Promoting Green Ports and Connectivity" project. The audit was conducted by independent auditors of the certification body LRQA, Netherlands.

BSP became the first port in Georgia to receive such a certificate.

The EcoPorts is the main environmental initiative of the European port sector and is integrated into the European Organization of Sea Ports (ESPO).

The implementation of the requirements of this standard will contribute to the further greening of port, loading / unloading and transport operations of the BSP.

Within the framework of the OSCE project "Promoting Green Ports and Connectivity, BSP employees were trained in Training centers of leading ports in Europe and visited the following ports:

1.      Mr.Andrey Danilov- the Head of the Management Department of the integrated

management system and standardization of BSP :

§  Port of Le Havre, France/ HAROPA PORT, Port Institute of Education and Research of the business school "EM Normandie" (IPER – EM Normandie);

§  Port of Antwerp, Belgium / Port of Antwerp-Bruges, APEC Port Training - Antwerp & Flanders Port Training Center;

§  Port of Valencia, Spain, Fundación Valenciaport Training Center.

2. Mr. Tengiz Varshanidze – the Operational Director of BSP:

§    Port of Antwerp, Belgium / Port of Antwerp-Bruges, APEC Port Training –

      Antwerp & Flanders Port Training Center;

         3. Mr. Zaza Varshalomidze, the Head of the Ecology and Health Department -

             Environmental Protection Manager of BSP:

§  Port of Valencia, Spain, Training center «Fundación Valenciaport».

 

From 11 to 21 June 2024 inclusive, the 21st International Seminar on "Women in Port Management" was held in Le Havre, France, sponsored by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) together with the Port of HAROPA, Le Havre, France. The seminar was hosted by the Port Institute of Education and Research of the EM Normandie Business School (IPER – EM Normandie). 31 women from 29 countries from 5 continents took part in the seminar, including Mrs.Lika Tsenteradze, Head of the Administrative Department of Batumi Sea Port Ltd, Georgia.

 

In addition to the above, the Batumi Sea Port Ltd has implemented and maintains an environmental management system in accordance with the international standard ISO14001:2015, compliance with which is annually verified by the British company United Registrar of Systems LLC.
