VISIT OF THE HEAD OF THE GOVERNMENT OF KAZAKHSTAN TO GEORGIA

On June 23, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov met with the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili in Tbilisi within the frame of the official visit of the Head of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

As you know, Georgia is an important and reliable partner of Kazakhstan in the South Caucasus. At the same time, the main core of bilateral cooperation remains cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, especially cooperation in the transport and logistics sphere can be pointed out.

Alikhan Smailov outlined the key role of the transit and transport sector in cooperation between Kazakhstan and Georgia, as large transcontinental transport corridors pass through the territories of the two states - the shortest routes from Europe to China and South-East Asia.

"Kazakhstan and Georgia are actively cooperating in the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. We are interested in increasing the transport connectivity of the region and in consistently improving transit conditions. In these plans, we certainly take into account the transit and transport potential of Georgia," Alikhan Smailov stressed.

New geopolitical realities have opened up new opportunities for the countries to develop a middle transport corridor, and in this direction it is necessary to strengthen active work in order to achieve maximum results in terms of attracting new cargo flows through our countries.

Recall that Kazakhstan has its assets in Georgia, represented by the Batumi Oil Terminal and the Batumi Seaport, which have been transferred to the management of JSC KazTransOil for a long-term lease.
