"PONENTE" has arrived: Batumi Sea Port has received a record size ship
The
dry cargo vessel “PONENTE”, claiming to be the longest vessel that has ever
entered our port, has arrived at the Batumi Sea Port. The size of the vessel,
combined with its technical characteristics, has set up a new standard in
marine engineering and port operation.
The
vessel ”PONENTE” is 229 meters long, 32 meters wide and has a gross register
capacity (GRT) of 42,887 tons. Its ability to maneuver within the Batumi Sea Port
demonstrates the port infrastructure's ability to accommodate vessels of
unprecedented size on the scale of the Black Sea.
The
vessel's ability to transport bulk cargo expands further the port's ability to
facilitate the movement of goods and cargo across international waters.
The
"PONENTE" is the longest vessel that entered the Batumi Sea Port within
the last 10 years. Transportation by such large vessels gives logistical
advantages to the port of Batumi. Its huge cargo capacity allows efficient
transportation of bulk cargo, optimizing supply chains and increasing the
port's ability to handle large volumes of goods with great efficiency. The huge
size of the vessel provides savings due to the amount of cargo, reducing
transportation costs per unit of cargo, increasing thereby the competitiveness
of the port.
